Why do I have to schedule online?

Do I have to be completely undressed?

Typically, massage is performed with the client fully undressed covered by a sheet or towel to protect their modesty. We understand and respect every client's comfort level, which is why we allow you to be undressed to your comfort level. Please bear in mind that some techniques may not be able to be performed through clothing (such as effleurage).

Do you have therapists of both genders?

We only try to bring on the best therapists, regardless of gender. Please check our schedule to see the availability of our therapists and who works at each location. We try to accommodate those clients with a preference, but we only want the best therapists, so we may not have your desired therapist available.

What type of massages do you offer?

Please visit our about massage section for a detailed list and explanation of each style. We have included some styles for educational purposes. Not every therapist does every style, so please read read your therapist’s bio when booking.

Do I have to be covered during a massage?

State law and ethics require that the client be draped properly during a massage. However, if you are cold or are too warm, we can adjust the draping level to your needs. Normally, the only part that would be uncovered would be the body part the therapist is working on.

Should deep tissue massage hurt?

This is a complicated discussion. A good deep tissue massage can border on discomfort when an area that is particularly tight is focused on. This does not mean that it should hurt. Oftentimes, it is even enjoyable. If an area is painful when being worked on, please inform your therapist as this can be a sign of an underlying injury that your therapist needs to know about. Your therapist can always modify their technique to match your comfort level.

Is deep tissue the same thing as deep pressure?

Absolutely not! Muscle is a tissue; and there are often several layers of muscle in the body. Deep tissue simply means that the focus of the massage is the deeper muscle in the body. A therapist doesn't necessarily need a lot of pressure to target this deeper layer of muscle. Good technique can oftentimes be more beneficial than heavy pressure. With this in mind, your massage is all about you, so if you want more or less pressure in an area please inform your therapist.

What if I'm sore afterwards?

Many times you will be sore up to 48 hours after a good deep tissue massage. This can be the result of lactic acid that is released from a newly loosened muscle during the massage. It's similar to an intense workout in feeling. Drinking water can help to flush out the toxins that were released and help to alleviate the soreness faster.

Should I drink water after a massage?

There is no magic amount of water that should be drunk after a massage or even a time frame. Water, as noted above, is good for flushing out the body's toxins. Immediately following the massage, warm or room-temperature water is preferable. Cold water causes the body to contract the muscles in response to cold and will thus tighten up muscles that were just loosened, which can lead to cramping or spasms.

Why do I have to fill out an intake form?

An intake form is only required on your first visit to us so that we may be aware of any medical issues that we need to be aware of in order to provide you with the best massage possible. If you have been a previous client and experience a new disease/illness/injury or anything else medically relevant, please fill out a new intake form so we may update our records. Also, please have your intake form filled out prior to your first appointment so that we won't have to use any time from your appointment as we have other appointments scheduled and can't take away from their time if your form isn't filled out. If you choose not to fill out an intake form, then we unfortunately cannot accept your appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24-hours notice for cancellation. If notice is not given, a re-booking fee (equal to half the value of the length appointment previously scheduled) will apply in order to book with us in the future. This is done to insure that the therapist is able to take appointments in your absence. We understand that emergencies in life do arise and if this is the case, we will evaluate each case individually.

What if I am using a prepaid voucher, coupon, or gift certificate?

If using a coupon, please let us know when booking. We need to know the coupon number, bar-code number and website source.

Tipping?

While tips are not expected, they are greatly appreciated. The standard tip is usually 20% of the full value of a massage.

Benefits of massage?

Please see our about massage page.

What sorts of conditions would preclude a massage?

There is a wide list and that is why we utilize an intake form for the protection of our clients.

Event massage?

We do offer event massage or chair massages. Please call to inquire about pricing and availability. This is best scheduled in advanced so we can coordinate your next event. We can arrange for estheticians, multiple massage therapists, etc.

Not every therapist is available to do in home massage. Please see our scheduling page to see who does.

What sort of products do you use during a massage?

Each therapist will use their own preferred product, such as creme, lotion, oil. If you have an allergy that concerns you, please send us a message when scheduling so your therapist can take this into account and accommodate you.

What time should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive ten minutes prior to your scheduled time. We utilize this time to go over your needs for the session. Also, this allows you to undress for your massage and receive the full time you paid for.

Tell me more about your facilities?

Each of our sites is different with different amenities. Please call to ask about accommodations such as handicap accessibility. Some sites have showers available as well.

Do you work on children?

It's up to each therapist whether they will work on a child (under 18) or not. If they choose to do so, the parent must sign next to their child's name on the intake form.

What if I've never had a massage before?

Please read through the FAQ's section and the about massage section for more information.

Can I ask the therapist to adjust the pressure?

Absolutely! While we use our best judgment as to the correct pressure level for your body, we are here to serve YOU, so please inform the therapist if you'd like the pressure level adjusted.

Are there any conditions under which I shouldn’t receive a massage?

Please see Contraindication List
